More Leaving
With more monastics leaving this week, it almost appears they are forcing out the best people. And Satya's conduct gets more depressing. Do you think this is some kind of purge? Are they trying to eliminate anyone who has ever disagreed with them?

Monastics Leaving
Concerned,

It isn't a purge. It is an exodus.

Housecleaning
One of the senior ministers/board members referred to this exodus as "housecleaning." Isn't it warm and fuzzy to know that you have been relegated to the status of a dust ball?

Mad as hell
Those kinds of comments make me mad as hell. I can’t believe the attitude. Such arrogance, ego, such a lack of compassion. They won’t even listen to those suffering while trying to decide if they should stay.

I saw another message here where the claim was that “now the vibration is getting better”. How pathetic. How did I ever feel these people were spiritual?

What ever happened to the practice of introspection? Does Uma Mata not even think about the impact their actions are having on people's spiritual lives?

Regarding House Cleaning
Obviously to them loyalty is a one-way street.

Why be baffled? We know from history that every authoritative leader eventually rises to power through the "purification" of the party. Hitler did it. In 1934 he sent Himmler on a mission to murder all the high-ranking leaders of the Storm Troopers so he could put the army under civilian control. Stalin starved and neglected and exiled millions of his citizens who he thought might be a brake on national progress. Mussolini also. And let's remember the "Final Solution" when the Nazis patriotically endeavored to rid their country of inferior human vermin (Jews).

The perfumed anti-Christs who reign at Mt. Washington and are responsible for this dismissive rhetoric will suffer the common fate of all abusers of humanity. Endure until the verdict.

Hitler?
That might be kind of strong language to mention Hitler, the Final Solution, and such. These are just old ignorant ladies abusing their power and holding back Master’s work. Let’s keep it in perspective. They hurt people, are corrupting the teachings and preventing hundreds if not thousands from making progress through learning about Master’s teachings, but they aren’t killing people.

No, I agree that people like Uma Mata don't consider the effect on people's spiritual lives. None of the bad ladies do. Their focus is on protecting the work (i.e. protecting themselves) and try to keep from doing anything even slightly uncomfortable. The bad ladies are a bunch of spiritual cowards.

More leaving
Who? When? If they've already left, it shouldn't be secret, should it? If some of them are people I know, I'd want to find them to offer friendship, help, etc.

Leaving
I heard of a few monastics on the brink of leaving but want it kept quiet so their exit is smoother.

As soon as Personnel gets wind of someone planning on leaving, they want to rush them out the door. We are therefore forced to get as much prepared as we can before letting the cat out of the bag. Personnel just has no clue about what it takes to start setting up a life outside the ashram, and they are primarily interested in removing any leavers ASAP to limit the impact on those who stay.

Things get pretty hairy in those last weeks before leaving, so let's keep those monastics as protected as possible by keeping their names off the air and in our prayers. They're gonna need all the support we can give.

I hear Bni. Jill is one of those planning on leaving. Let's not spread it around so she can make the transition more smoothly, but those of you who have always cared for her and considered her a friend might want to contact her and offer help. She will need a job, place to stay, money, etc...

There use to be a website? that claimed they were helping monastics transition. Does anyone know where that is? I would like to connect with them.

Re: Leaving
Hi In Recovery,

Is there actually a Personnel department at Mt. Washington for the monastics? I could see having one for the employee's, maybe even the lay volunteers, but for the monastics. That makes it sound so businesslike, so cold and impersonal, when one would think that, the monastics at the very least, were family and were treated with respect based upon their service to God and guru.

But I guess that's just another illusion I'll have to come to grips with concerning SRF's management and their frozen policies of intra-ashram relations which affect those ones who've dedicated their lives to the work and deserve, at the very least in my opinion, to be treated with dignity and respect, hopefully with love and concern for their ultimate welfare whether or not they remain monastics.

Personnel Departments
Hi, Lobo.

There's a Monks' Personnel, run by Brother Anandamoy and Brother Satyananda; there's a Nuns' Personnel, run by Sr. Shivani. During my years in the ashram I was also told there's a Central Personnel Department, run by Sr. Shivani, which covers both the monks and nuns and has all our personal files (the one's with the black lists).

Re:Leaving
Does anyone know about the 32 monastics who left? Such as, were any of them that were oldtimers in SRF for many years? I once heard that even some who had been in SRF for 25 years left, and I would like to know if that is true.

How long
I believe that the mean time in the ashram was probably about 18 years. A few were 4 and 5 years, some in the 12 range, many over 18 years. There is a message that gives the counts for mid-summer 2001.

more leaving
Dear KS,

Thank you for your information. It is hard to believe and really saddens me about SRF. To even think that even more are leaving? I know a nun there who I really like, and I almost wanted to tell her, "If you leave and need a place to live, call me," but I didn't know if she was leaving, and I live in a small trailer, and if it weren't for my husband, I would do it. Do you know how many more expect to leave? Another question: How many monks and nuns does SRF have in the U.S.? Is this a big chunk? Who will be left? It is time to keep all in my prayers.

Yeah, please keep the ex-monastics in your prayers. I know quite a few of them, and some, even after many years are trying to reconstruct their lives outside, and believe me, they go through a whole lot...Getting a job, a home, car, etc... And a lot of devotees say they are willingto help, but when the time comes, help does not always come.
