Good luck in your efforts for reform
You are providing folks a great service. Keep up the good work.

Personally I don't know very much about the internal workings of SRF, and haven't ever been there or to convocation. I first started reading books by Yogananda in 1997 and sent for the lessons starting in early 1999.

So I don't have a lot to contribute to the website that would be of any interest. It is fascinating to read what others say, though, especially those who are obviously close to the scene (or have been). If you're ever actually attacked by SRF, I hope you'll post it play-by-play. ;) Plus, seems to me SRF could probably identify some of these folks by how intelligently they write and how they're able to formulate such great theories. But maybe not...

In my opinion, the complaints and observations of the participants have the ring of truth to them, and it looks like SRF could use some REAL reform! Just a little bit of intuition tells me the folks on the board aren't lying.

The SRFWalrus site has affected my feelings about doing the meditation techniques (I'm not as eager or faithful to even the limited amount I was doing). I still think the techniques are basically good and probably effective in the long-run; but I'd like to see the folks in charge of the stuff to be living by high principles. And for it all not to be a big charade.

One thing about SRF that REALLY bothers me is that it claims to be "non-sectarian," but as soon as you sign up for anything, then it's supposed to be "your religion." I think they're contradicting the clear teachings and practice of Lahiri Mahasaya in the Autobiography, at the very least. And SRF hasn't got enough to it to be the Religion Of The World, so they should give up in that regard...and just teach their meditation techniques openly as a way of helping people be happier.

Good luck in your efforts for reform,
