be there or be square, lol << just kidding
one and all

jason becker, i and others will be at the san ramon hall with ammachi, nov 18, 19, 20, 21, 23 from her arrival at 10am until she has given the last "morning program" hug which is always jason's. that occurs about 2pm or 3pm

all of those programs are free, with the exception being the 23rd

there are evening programs each of those days beginning aroun 6pm (check ammachi.org........in there you'll see tours and san ramon) again the evening programs are free, with the exceptions of the 22nd and 23rd

there is a morning program the 24th that is still a part of the retreat starting the evening of the 22nd, the morning the 24th is not free. the retreat ends sunday morning

beginning about 5:30pm sunday the 24th is the glorious devi bhava (divine mother) that goes straight through the night and into about 8am monday morning, the whole program free

she is in detroit more briefly prior to her arrival in california, this is the extent of her usa stops in the fall

in june and july EVERY year she visits about nine usa cities across the width and breath of the country in addition to two weeks in san ramon

san ramon, california is about an hour east of san francisco
the setting is rustic and completely removed from any development, even from any other homes, sitting amidst undeveloped california hills more than 1/4 mile off a local road.

if you email i will give you my phone number etc
you can easily find me there, by looking for the beautiful man towards the front half of the hall on the right (on the right as you enter the hall) in a large wheelchair, and 1/2 or more of the people there know jason becker by name. jason is the good looker, he will tell you where i am if i am not seated at his side

<heypoet@aol.com>

i have been 80-100 times and jason has come with me every single time since nov '97....we are there on an average of 8 hours each time we go with oodles of time to visit and enjoy the swan pond with the water lillies
also there with us is at least one ex srf monks and also at least one ex srf nun
amma had an interesting answer when directly asked if she is yogananda

soulcircle

p.s. maybe half of the people there have been thru the autobiography of a yogi and/or srf

i touch the feet of each of you, for you have the heart of a good friend

oh god rosemarie7 and hubby
you have to be on your knees in front of seated amma in her arms against her shoulder or bosom as she whispers my daughter my darling kissing you

you have to be there to even have a clue

you have to see the children who she welcomes first, with the sick

unlike non-family-friendly, stiff srf centers, all is informal around amma as she focuses on children, saturday she feeds every toddler by hand individually after serving each of the 900 people their individual dinner plate

so the whole time children are in and out, babes are at the breast, welcome and love and families abound

her arms embrace all who come, and there is a way to ask her questions directly

in addition
on saturday she takes questions for awhile in a large group following an outdoor meditation

oh god to tell you anything about amma i would have to be your best friend in a magic setting, alone with you for hours with music and dancing (you can dance in the hall)

i do warn that the organization is like any other and that charities that are noteworthy, she is greatly praised for her mother theresa energy in india and around the world,
the charities are a mix, because there is some misuse of the donations intended for the poorest

having said all, i will say that my best friend loves her as he loves his mother and i love her as among my oldest friends

you may love to hear that she spent five of her first seven days in the united states, camping among friends and people on mt shasta, california

of particular note is that she appeared on the today show with a kriyaban who has moved on from srf. i am speaking of judith cornell who wrote her biograpghy
"amma, healing the heart of the world"
judith cornell's home page

tell me how you like warm fuzzy feelings, lol

Well, for goodness sake please tell us what her answer was. I have heard in the past from SRF members that she has claimed to be the reincarnation of Yoganandaji. I am skeptical of this claim but also doubtful as to whether this is actually what she said. Perhaps you could clear this matter up as to what she actually said? Thanks.

Re: To: Soulcircle
I thought Yoganandaji told a few of his close disciples that he would incarnate on this planet in a hundred years but that life would be lived in the Himalayas with a just a few disciples.

It would be interesting to know if Ammachi, who I have a great amount of respect for after reading her biography, thinks she is Yogananda.

Soulcircle as Ringbearer requests: please let us know her answer.

amma and yogananda
One and all,

two preliminary responses,
(1) my email is enabled

for this is not just a yes or no.....

she has said yes ( i am yogananda), to the mother of a richmond devotee, yet this board is pretty far from the setting, and that this, is a third hand report, entirely begs the question

ok, after one "original?" thought (pretty good for a devotee from 1970....to do original thinking...heehee) i will tell you, with all the sincerity of a child, who Amma "is!"

2) [yogananda said he would come a trillion times if need be, for the last stray brother's trip across the opal pool to the other shore......AND, as long as it will take to get me, the last, across the pool, how often do you think he can take a few centuries down time, and get us billions to the happy hunting grounds?]

more seriously, and i hope i can explain this in person to some of you someday, the source of this is conversations with the author of "Amma, Healing the Heart of the World," see mandala-universe.com, and a tiny bit of intuition

the author, judith cornell and amma appeared together on the today show in new york

before amma was born her mother had a dream, in this dream her baby to be, amma, manifested as thousands of incarnations of divine mother and the great spirit

amma's father heard of the dream, and in devotions, or in some more prosaic fashion, demanded "equal time."
his "gift, or insight" came in the form of a vision,
which he told directly to the author, judith cornell

amma's pop's vision
a large cobra expanded it's head to full size and reached an impossibly immense size
around the circumference appeared ten thousand divinites

so enter amma
in her meditations and throughout her life whenever she focuses on divine mother or a divinity she becomes that

..... countless hundreds of meditations she has merged with these uncounted divine incarnations
[hence when she focuses on yogananda she becomes yogananda]

that says it all

__________________________
a few editorial comments
i am not sure anyone truly becomes greater by becoming yogananda..it behooves us to be ourselves

i have been in her arms on a june night when she was "one with divine mother," which is probably all the time....a june night in '97, and heck yeah, she is yogananda and a lot more

ananda moyi ma in her last years did send people to amma

amma has said many things, and sings for hours everyday
i love her singing and mimic it

she has said nothing is apart from her [not even your eyes or your monitor]

she has said that "if i were to manifest even an *infintesimal* part of my power, you couldn't approach me!"

please know that i appreciate all your questions,

she is jason's guru
i introduced jason to amma, and jason has lavished the sweetest kindnesses and fun friendship on me, ever since and even before

in my case i love the love between jason and amma

in my case she rates right up there in second place behind one of jason's caregivers, serrana kassamali, as a kind soul
well and maybe, in a tie with pan

actually in a tie with all of you!!!

if today i could be with any one friend on a walk in the redwoods, i would pass, not wanting to make a choice
and when forced to choose,

i would choose each of you, one by one, day by day, before amma, what would a day with amma be, without each of you there too?

walking in the redwoods with amma would come last, and yes, it would be intimately sweet

but as i am finding we walk best when we are all together
when easyrose joins us as she is ...in the thread i need advice ...what is truth

i pity gurus and believe my srf walrus name/id would be best if it was "pedestal smasher" rather than soulcircle, heehee

amma is a mixed bag
her charities are somewhat of a sham, because, at a minimum, her large hospital "aims" is run for a profit (yet portrayed as a charity for kerala's poorest...a few poor are helped, closer to 5% than 50%).
at the same time, she has food for the homeless in many places in the world, including oakland,ca and has for years.
i bow to her helpful devotees and to their seva (service)...i aspire to be like them. oakland homeless have received a remarkable meal, monthly, due to these peoples' love for all

i know of no one on the public stage who had hugged, any and all, every hour of the day, practically 24/7 every day of the year, since '73

**on my own and with jason** about a hundred times i have witnessed her not leave her seat for endless hours, singing, crying, laughing and hugging
and her love for jason becker, who has had als since '89 has brought me to gulping sobs of profound emotion again and again and again

i tell you

** with jason ** 80 times after waiting 5 hours in the morning programs..we like going last.. (we attend 17 every year, largely free) marilyn, or someone, and i roll jason up. he "talks" with his eyes...at this time he doesn't walk..millions visit his website, and several every day email him from around the world.....telling of "turning away from suicide".....or the greek doctor telling him. "jason, your music inspires my whole medical career".....
jason lays in his big wheel chair, on life support (since '97), his soul pouring from his enchanted eyes, his beautiful eyes

and jason and amma do their dance, and their magic, openly, sometimes as many 500 are nearby, totally focused on simple loving magic, amma talks with him, holds him at length, kisses hims, shed tears, laughs, massages his feet, legs and hands, spreads healing ash all over his face, plays his music in the hall, tells people of the sign language jason's dad invented for the world (out of a pop's love for a son and never wanting to lose communication with him...in this case "signing without hands"....is through "spelling" with his eyes with no need for any prop, spelling quickly, conveniently, day in, day out) and looks deeply into his eyes in motionless communion!
one saturday, amma turned to the nearest brahmachari, and said, "i am going to dance"

how many of us saw yogananda dance...
well, this friend of yours has, in the dancing of amma that saturday

enough said?

i am at work and hope to proofread this soon

soulcircle
<heypoet@aol.com>

p.s. i have written this, rather openly, more can be said via email and perhaps on a phone call

Re: amma and yogananda
Thank you, soulcircle-pedestal smasher.

And now, if I only knew who Yogananda really was, and who you and I really are, and why it all is the way it is . . .

Some random thoughts:

If you love God in Yogananda or in Amma or in anyone or in everyone, is love any less or more than what it is?

And . . . aren't we all bliss bunnies? Don't we just look for joy in different places? Who am I to say where you should seek it? Who am I?

And . . . I see Yogananda in Amma and in you and in me and in each of us -- I feel the "dead guru" as a living reality in all.

And . . . I don't disagree that there are benefits to sticking to one tradition.

But . . . I am curious if even the two most dogmatic SRF monastics are really following the same path, even though they dress the same and read the same authorized version of the Autobiography.

And . . . I recall that Yogananda said that Sri Yukteswar was his guru . . . and that Babaji was his guru (from his Arjuna incarnation) . . . and that God is the real guru.

And . . . God is love.

And . . . I shall never understand all the details, but I shall always love God and see Him shining in each of you.

Thanks Soulcircle for sharing your experiences about Ammachi. I am a bit of a skeptic about claims of reincarnations, etc. -- but who knows? In any case, your telling of the sweetness and kindness that Ammachi has showered upon your friend Jason is very touching.

had just asked the hugging saint

are you yodananda reincarnated

amma, "yes, yes, yes"

just the facts, does this make the world's greatest lover, a saint among saints who spoke at this recent world spiritual/religious teacher ***women leader's*** un gathering.....
does it make her a liar?

Re: again just now...."yes yes yes"
The current SRF leadership attempts to gain credibility by claiming to have a special relationship with Yogananda. They are disappointing people and their only chance to be worshipped by the membership is that relationship. It is probably wisest to judge someone buy what they do, not what they say or who they knew or who they claim to have been in a past life.

Maybe, maybe, maybe. Or perhaps just deluded? Or maybe speaking from a different level of consciousness? Who knows? I am very reluctant to get involved with "saints" - especially those with large followings. This is probably something I learned from my experience with SRF. Right now I figure the only divinity in this world that is really relevant to me is the one right between my eyes - I don't think I could have complete trust in any other.

two or three questions
Who knows if words ever speak the truth?

Amma was in Detroit briefly before her arrival here in the California Bay Area Nov 18th for a week, is anyone else actually seeing her?

i encourage anyone to hold much thought or reflection back until one meets her
what was meeting gandhi like....ananda moyi ma...............yogananda......................so if you are seeing her or have will be delighted to hear back........as an unknown she has understandably little appeal

Re: SRF spy
Last time I saw Ammachi in Los Angeles, mother center sent a SRF spy in to see what was going on. He wore a blue dot. And he never went up to see her. I told him that about half of Devi Bhava people are wearing SRF bangles. So, it is clear that SRF leadership is feeling threatened by this saint.

SRF has nothing that comes close in comparison. They have no saint, their music isn't as good, and even convocation doesn't draw as many people.

amma often takes questions (live.. unrehearsed.. from anyone)

last night in a hall comfortably hosting one thousand people

she took a large amount of time answering

as it turned out she spent the whole time on two questions
going at great length and with stories

an srf kriyaban asked about the express bus to god, and about reaching a time in meditation where the heart and breath are still.

he asked about kriya yoga

one feeling from amma
any of us can meditate for years for many years and then get up and get into a rage with a friend, family member or associate

also there are many teaching, all life is an express bus

she expressed the feeling
first learn, absorb all a master's teaching
only after that if you wish narrow the focus to one aspect like the heart being still

to not know all the teaching of a master first....you pollute the teaching

only in silence is truth heard

the importance of meditation in experiencing inner silence

encouraging all to have a day a month in silence

amma expressed and repeated our love and compassion with an absense of fear ...with the grace of god...are paramont

amma feels we learn to avoid forcing something

********be the spontaneous opening of a flower bud, one petal at a time******
so that the pure essence/the sweetness comes through

she said all these and many more things with stories around the kriyaban's question

she also cautioned against quoting a master, one reason being that the teaching is polluted when taken out of context

many sweet and helpful feelings she brought forth
she remarked on faith, patience. enthusiam and optomism
...
humility allows knowledge to flow into us without fear

always be a beginner

Re: soulcircle pollutes the srf walrus board
devotee1970: I really liked your posting. This is very much my own view (although we disagree about SRF as an organization). Especially:

<<But . . . I am curious if even the two most dogmatic SRF monastics are really following the same path, even though they dress the same and read the same authorized version of the Autobiography.>>

BTW the individuals who organized Amma's second tour (around 1985, I believe) stayed at my home in Colorado and I was able to spend time with her in Boulder (I helped transport people and equipment and set-up for her appearances). She is indeed a very saintly person--one of very few who I regard in this light. But IMHO, it's totally irrelevant whether she is/is not the reincarnation of Yogananda (or Arjuna or Lincoln). And I got a much more equivocal answer from her followers regarding this question--basically, what devotee1970 said: that God is Love, the Guru is Love, Christ is Love, Yogananda is Love. Only in that (very impersonal) sense is she the reincarnation of Yogananda.

I wish everyone here a happy, holy, peaceful Thanksgiving to all (whether or not the main course is textured soy protein or something more substantial!)
