Sai Baba is a fraud
These comments were excised from an earlier post in another thread, where the Walrus did not feel they belonged. Sai Baba has been investigated by the Indian Rationalist Society and exposed as a fraud, for whatever that's worth to anyone. He, you may recall, is famous for "materializing" everything from precious gems to ashes, inspiring awestruck reverence among his devotees. The IRS videotaped him at a celebration, where he appeared to materialize a string of beads out of thin air before presenting them to a most grateful disciple. When the IRS played the tape back in slow motion, it became clear that in fact he had pulled the beads out of the bottom of a box he was holding in his other hand. But it was done so deftly and quickly, and with such a flourish of the hands, that one couldn't have seen it without warning. As for the ashes he supposed brings forth from his spiritual eye, this trick is easily accomplished by concealing a small packet of ashes in his hand and crushing it. Sai Baba is a Hindu David Copperfield, folks. I wouldn't put any more faith in what he says about the spiritual life than I would put money in Enron stock. I should say that this tape was broadcast on PBS, in a show about the IRS and its debunking activities. When interviewed on NPR, the leader of the IRS was asked if he thought his organization could actually make India a more rational culture. He said there was no doubt of it, because it had already reached a saturation point in terms of irrationality. But, people continue to believe in Sai Baba. They also continue to send money to Jimmy Swaggart, Jerry Falwell, and Jim Bakker. I say, caveat emptor.

Re: Sai Baba is a fraud
Hey Musicman,

You are not current on you Sai Baba stories. Time (I believe, or some other very reputable publisher) of India, published a article of Sai Baba probably sometime in the last two years. In it they interviewed young boys who went to his boys school. They reported tale after tale of sexual acts by Sai Baba. There used to be a web site up someplace several years ago put up by the boys, but I don't know if it is still around.

So, this is known by most of Sai baba devotees. So I guess Sai Baba is gay. Guess he won't be allowed into Hidden Valley.

Re: Sai Baba is a fraud
[Oh well, I guess I shouldn't bother reposting my Sai Baba followup I wrote yesterday that got deleted. But since I went to the trouble of writing it, what the heck. Yes, it's old news, but it was relevant to what was being discussed about him and others gurus with "adharmic behaviors".]

Sai Baba has been exposed as a fraud on all fronts. Not only the movies showing he fakes the "vibhuti" ashes he produces for people, people have seen him carrying his famous "vibhuti pellets", pellets of ash he holds in his hand and then crushes them with his fingers to produce the famous ash. He gives everybody he interview in his famous interview room gifts, usually trinkets and jewelry, which he "materializes" in front of the person. All of this has been proven to be false too. He takes the trinkets from a back room and hides them under his robe in his long sleeve until the time comes to "materialize" it for his believing followers who come to have his darshan. In his old age he has become senile and lost some of his mind and has become very careless, so he can no longer hide the trinkets very well, people can see him pulling them out of his clothes, and hear him when he gets them out of his closet in the back room while they're waiting for him to walk in. They found out all his cheap trinkets are made by a fake jewler in Bangalore nearby. In some cases he's even dropped the vibhuti pellets in front of people or on their heads because he is unstable and his hand shakes from old age.

The worst part of his downfall have been the horrible cases of child molestation. There are so many hundreds of these cases. He's molested many boys over the years, has private interviews with them in his room and gets them naked and plays with their genitals telling them he is raising their kundalini. Then he has them perform oral sex on him telling them it is good for their spiritual development. Many of these boys have committed suicide. Some have tried to kill Sai Baba so now he has a big security entourage. The United Nations have cancelled their programs with him, and he has lost many devotees, including famous international persons and Indians, even politicians because of the pedophilia. It is very sad, many people really believed in him.

Sad, sad, sad
Thanks, username and Jan. I hate going negative so often, but there are times when it's necessary. I was very happy to get confirmation of something I saw a few years ago and hoped I remembered correctly. Of course, it's also sad, sad, sad. It's one thing to dupe credulous adults, but to abuse children is absolutely criminal. It reminds us of what seems to be a weekly occurence in the Catholic church, especially now in Boston. And there's always the same cover-up, the same denials, until the dam of deceit bursts and the truth inundates everything. And we see the same thing happening in SRF. I keep coming back to the dangers of lending absolute credence to anyone or anything. When people tell us not to analyze, not to criticize, but just to follow blindly and believe and do as we're told, all kinds of warning lights and sirens should go off in our minds, like a Star Trek red alert. But we WANT to believe and trust . . .

Sai Baba
For a collection of information, testimonies, articles etc. on what is now called the "Sai Baba Expose," please see www.snowcrest.net/sunrise

Yes, the man is a fraud, but still fooling many thousands (or millions) of devotees, who refuse to look at the mounting evidence of molestation throughout the world. The influence of SB is not limited to the physical plane. Please see the Inner Plane page on Sunrise.

Many devotees of SB were/are devotees of Yogananda. I was one of these. That followers of a true Guru could be utterly deluded by an imposter guru speaks for the occult power SB had. Whether he still has this power today in 2002 is open to question. He has not been able to stop the flood of information exposing him and his organization on web sites and discussion boards.

Sai Baba is not a fraud, liars are a fraud
For someone who has meet or being near Sai Baba, this accusations are as insusbtantial as the people who believe in them just because they have read some "testimonies" in Internet.

People accept them blindly, some say "I have been a follower of Sai Baba xx years..." but if you ask them some questions (if you really find this people), "where did you stayed with him, and in what year?" this testimonies just became confused.

Do you know any real person who has been harassed by Sai Baba? Any real person, not "someone told me that had a friend who was..."

If you look for close devotees of Sai Baba you will find them doing strong karma yoga for others. But you must do the effort to go to India and see for yourself.

Have you seen any modern hospital somewhere in India where the service is completely free? There is only one. Do you guess where?

(No, according to Internet, the followers of Sai Baba use the hospital to stole and sell organs from children).

If you believe what appears in Internet you have a big problem.

But probably Truth is only for those who are ready to go for it, seeing directly by themselves. The rest of the people can entertain themselves with Internet.

You can go to Puttaparti and see for yourself if Sai Baba does any tricks materizing things. You will find something better than that.

The United States State department and the State department of England have both issued travelers advisiory warning against Sai Baba.

According to folks living at the ashram, the number of people visiting Sai Baba has substantially decreased.

I have found Sai Baba devotees to be some of the sweetest people I have ever met. But most devotees do believe the boys stories.

I have never heard of organs from children being stolen, so I am not commenting on this.

Nacho, Where have you been?
Nacho, where have you been the last few years? Underground, maybe? All of us who are ex-devotees of the fraud, SB, have thoroughly investigated the allegations and talked with families and friends of the abused boys. The abused men and boys have even appeared on television in South America and Denmark within the last year. Videos may be purchased.

The abused were frequent visitors to Prashanti Nilayam and had private interviews with SB. No confusion there. Best to visit the Yahoo boards if you want to spread defensive lies in favor of SB. (I've been to PN a number of times myself.)

Slow motion videos clearly show tricks of "materialization" by SB.

Free hospital treatment? What kind of treatment? I know a longtime PN resident who refused to go to the Super Specialty Hospital for an operation because she said too many operations were botched there.

Please do your research before you jump on the "only internet stories" bandwagon. Nothing could be further from the truth. Please see www.snowcrest.net/sunrise

That site will direct you to other internet sites throughout the world with numerous posts by those who were abused, articles, current news, etc. There is even a photocopy of SB's old school record on the Dutch site (exbaba) which shows a different birthdate than the one he has passed out.

The greatest harm SB has done is to discourage people about following ANY guru. This has hurt those whom Yogananda and other true Gurus might have helped.
