Shibendu & Krishnamurti
Has anyone read Shibendu's messages on "his" website.

His words are similar to that of Krishnamurti.

Re: Shibendu & Krishnamurti
I assume you are referring to the site kriyayogalahiri.com. I see Shibendu's messages as a faithful interpretation of Lahiri's. Having been a mathematician and demographer in his householder life, his mode of expression is different from that of his great grandfather.

Both Lahiri and Krishnamurti taught universal truths informed by the Vedanta tradition. So it is no surprise that the views expressed are hauntingly familiar.

Newspaper reports of the time said that when Annie Besant brought him over, at a huge Theosophical Society meting he was introduced as a reincarnation of Krishna. They said he replied "I am not Krishna, I am Krishnamurti" and walked out. He was very down to earth.

Here is a quote from one of the websites devoted to him.
"Although he is recognized both in the East and the West as one of the greatest religious teachers of all times, Krishnamurti himself belonged to no religion, sect, or country. Nor did he subscribe to any school of political or ideological thought. On the contrary, he maintained that these are the very factors that divide man from man and bring about conflict and war. He emphasized time and again that we are first and foremost human beings, that each one of us is like the rest of humanity and not different. He pointed to the importance of bringing to our daily life a deeply meditative and religious quality. Only such a radical change, he said, can bring about a new mind, a new civilization. Thus his teachings transcend all man-made boundaries of religious beliefs, nationalistic sentiment, and sectarian outlook. At the same time, they give a new meaning and direction to modern man’s quest for meaning, for Truth. His teachings, besides being relevant to the modern age, are timeless and universal."

Re: Shibendu & Krishnamurti

Shibendu is an avid reader of Krishnamurti's books. I do not know if they have ever met. Shibendu copies a lot of Krishnamurti stuff. I know Shibendu studied with Osho

Could you elaborate further about Shibendu not being enlightened?

Also, if lahiri was enlightened, then future generations of his family should be enlightened - Shibendu is obviously NOT enlightened So this means either that lahiri was not enlightened or the 7 generation thing is not true "

Go meet him --- It is obvious he is not enlightened. There is no one, that I am aware of, that thinks he is.

Without meeting him, the main thing I find disconcerting is this notion of hereditary succession.

I noticed this too. I didn't know so many others have made the connection as well.

I find this disturbing. Krishnamurti never sold mediation techniques or anything of that nature as Shibendu does. He also would never have approved of anything like Kriya Yoga, he would have considered that a scam. Shibendu is using these great teachings from Krishnamurti on freedom from authority to sell his versions of Kriya and to prop himself up as a guru. Highly disturbing ...

Re: Shibendu & Krishnamurti
Hi all that read this.

Shibendu Lahiri (1939-) is the great grandson of Lahiri Mahasaya, and spreads kriya yoga teachings. It would be good to get the Shibendu stuff gathered; I have found postings here at the Walrus on other strings, on the kriya board - and an analysis of main Shibendu messages on another site. It reveals Shibendu talks severely against himself too. Allow me to share that sort of fun for now:

-----

> When we read his, "I have no message." [Message 35 of Shibendu Lahiri online], why do we bother to read around sixty other messages from him?

> He says, "I don't offer any knowledge. I don't transmit any knowledge." [Message 54] So why must anyone read his messages? Why are they online?

> "You are nothing." [Message 24] So why bother!

> He says, "Wander away from this idiotic world and be an outsider without caring for the opinions and obsessions of the stupid society." [ Message 70.] Thus, we have idiotic eating too. Note that Shibendu manages to travel and cruise in the "idiotic world". It is wandering, but not from this world, but in it.

> Shibendu also says (but to whom if "you are nothing?): "Do not utter God's name. Because he is un-nameable." [Message 39] Then why did he bother to write out Thousand Names of the Un-nameable? [Message 62-65] Because he is above logic?

> But "Kriya Yoga is not a method to become liberated!" he says clearly. [Message 34]

> He also says those in authority are not wise.
