Jesus Of The Himalayans
I truly believe with all my being that Jesus spent many years in deep meditation among the blessed mountains..
Does anyone have any references behind this well kept secret...

Re: Jesus Of The Himalayans
Jim,

There are a few books of which I'm aware of, plus this topic, I think, has been discussed on this board somewhere, where I'm not sure right now, you'll have to look, sorry.

One of the books, which I've not read but it's from a highly reputable person, Swami Abhedananda of the Ramakrishna Order (a direct disciple). It's available at the Vedanta Bookstore at their Hollywood Temple; they are also online, try google.com.

The book I've read is by a Sufi author, an academic named, Professor Fida Hassnain. The book's entitled, A Search For The Historical Jesus, from Aprocryphal, Buddhist, Islamic & Sanskrit Sources.

In sum he details the belief, apparently widely shared by the locals, that Jesus didn't die on the cross, instead making it to Kashmir where his body is today buried. It's an interesting read and I'd recommend it for general background and some insight into the legend of Jesus' visit to the East.

PY tells us that Jesus did visit the East during the years that are left out of his lifetime in the Bible. But he seems to cite as an authority the Russian (whose name escapes me) who supposedly was shown some ancient writings by the Buddhist Lamas that offer proof. Other's have debunked this claim, so I guess the truth's still out.

Hope this helps.

Elizabeth Clare Prophet, whose Summit Lighthouse is one of the more reprehensible new-age groups out there, nonetheless did the world a service by republishing the book on the historical Jesus called, I believe "Search for the Historical Jesus" which includes the russian material referred to above. It is still in print.

Actually, the book is called "The Lost Years of Jesus". I've got it right here in my lap. I got it at a used bookstore, and it's a really interesting book. I'd like to know more about Summit Lighthouse and why you take such a harsh stance with it. I don't know anything about it or about E.C. Prophet. What's the story?

Re: Jesus Of The Himalayans
lionheart111, An Eagle's Flight by Abbot George goes into depth concerning the history of Christianity, including its history in India and Jesus' time spent there. Check it out...

"In the last century the main focus of Protestant missionary efforts, whatever the denomination might be, was India... Little did they realize that in India the Light of Christ had been shining without interruption since the visitation of Our Lord Himself at the age of fourteen. Except for brief returns to Israel and a journey into Egypt, He spent the entirety of His life from fourteen to thirty in India, mostly with Babaji Brahmananda. In the company of Babaji or His associates Jesus travelled throughout the entire Indian subcontinent.

During His public ministry in Israel Jesus prepared Saint Thomas the Apostle to be His emissary to India after His departure from the earth..." 363.

Regarding Jesus influence in India, Abbot George points out that several congregations that Saint Thomas founded still exist to this day in South India.

This site is quite interesting, although I haven't been through it all. It is extensive, and I haven't a spare year. :)

reluctant-messenger.com/main.htm

There is a link on this page about Elizabeth Claire Prophet and the mentioned book.
Just looking at this page again quickly, it looks as though this book may be online here to read.

Also other texts and books from all religions.

Lionheart111:

You may want to contact Abbot George directly:

Atma Jyoti Ashram
1482 Rango Way
Borrego Springs, CA 92004
760-767-0045

He also recommends reading: "The Aquarium Gospel of Jesus the Christ" as well as a book by Swami Paramananda, "Christ and Oriental Ideals" which can be obtained from Ananda Ashrma, at 5301 Pennsylvania Avenue, La Cresenta, Ca 91214, 818-248-1931.

By the way, Abbot George is now called: Swami Nirmalananda Giri.

Vedanta Society also has some books on Christ's being in India. You can send for their catalog at: 1-800-816-2242. One of their Swamis actually traveled to Tibet and discovered material that sheds new light on the life of Christ.

Thanks for mentioning the book by Abbot George, because he didn't mention it to me when he wrote. I hope it is still in print. I have been reading these types of books because of my interest in them, and my favorite book about Christ, although having nothing to do with his travels in India, is, "The Sermon on the Mount According to Vedanta" by Swami Prabhavananda which is a commentary on that sermon. It can be purchased through Vedanta also.

Re: Jesus Of The Himalayans
Thanks so much for the time you all gave me to better my experience, curiousity, and spiritaulity..
I must share a special sacred sitaution about the beloved Jesus..
I`m 55 ( going on 18 with great youthfulness) and throughout my life I have misplaced everything I`ve ever had due to numerous moves, misplacements etc..
BUT since my early teens I`ve had this one framed 2" by 2" picture of the divine Jesus and for some unknown reason this picture has never been misplaced or left my possession not ever....This strikes me as extrordinary...
My father had the blessing of spending a vacation with master on one occassion in Mount Washington and a few times since as a young boy i got to go to services in detriot with my dad and share in the wonderment of the blessings bestowed upon us all at the services...
I remember one time Dear Mr. Black had just finished speeking to us and was turning around to go back to his chair which was placed on the main stage..Suddenly he began to stagger to his chair and I knew what was taking place in this mans spirit even as a boy child..
I could never show enough gratitude to the masters for bestowing on us the gift of eternal freedom..It awaits our loving calling...

Re: Jesus Of The Himalayans
Lionheart,

Thanks for those great stories. It must have been special to have your father know PY while he was alive. And to have a father that actually felt in tune with his teachings which were not all that accepted during his lifetime, and who took you to services lead by Mr. Black when you were a child.

I only saw and heard the very great Yogacharya Mr. Black at the 1970 Convocation. He had a gathering where he told stories of his times with PY, and while I was at the time new to the teachings I could feel his joy, and transparent spiritual attainment during that talk.

By the way, I'm 52 and feeling it!

But with the New Year and my resolutions, I'm going to "get younger" through better diet and exercise so I'll maybe feel, like you, going on 18 again.

Best to you.

Lionheart,

That was a great story, even about Jesus' photo never being misplaced.

One other book that you might like is, "The Sermon on the Mount According to Vedanta," There is also another book that is out of print that Abbot George recommended. I just found and ordered it on the Internet on Amazon.com. It is titled, "Hindu View of Christ", by Swami Akhilananda. They have more copies.

Re: Jesus Of The Himalayans
While spending all of 2002 in India, I found several books which may help you out.

The first is entitled "Jesus Lived in India" by Kersten Holger (ISBN# 0-14-302829-4, pub by Penguin). A bookseller in India told me it is not available at this time outside India per contractual dispute, but hopefully you could find it on ebay. It is an excellent resource! It is referencing the original writings of Nicolai Notovitch who found documents in Ladakh in the Buddhist monastaries verifying Jesus' travels and teachings there. Kersten has done a lot of homework. Notovitch's book I found at Bodhi Tree, I think it was. So it is around.

Another book, The Aquarian Gospels might or might not be of interest as it is a channelled book by an anonymous author. I reccommend it for those with open and discriminating minds.

Also, check out the book from the Edgar Cayce readings. Think it's called "Edgar Cayce on Jesus".

In India I heard from Sadhus that Jesus lived in a particular cave which I visited and found to be highly spiritualized. A Guru of the 20th Century became God-Realized while living there and his primary disciple has much Shakti.

Oh, also of interest is the fantastic book entitled "Chirist the Yogi" by Ravi Ravendra. It's a verse by verse insight into the New Testatment book of John with great commentary on the yogic interpretations of the scriptures. Really makes Christianity sing in the heart again.

Re: Jesus Of The Himalayans
Another excellent book (also in the "channelled" catagory) is called Anna, Grandmother of Jesus and is a story of Saint Ann's life. According to the book, she was a abbess in an essene monastery at Mt. Carmel, and that the immaculate conception (her own conception of Mary) as well as the miraculous conception (Mary's conception of Jesus) were events that they willfully brought to fruition through their own spiritual practices. The story also tells some from Jesus' point of view, when he goes off to India and returns to tell his Grandmother about the journey. Jesus' father, Joseph, and he travel to the Hymalias and spend time in the Ashram of Babaji, and Joseph even dies in Babaji's ashram. It also tells of Jesus' initation in the Great Pyramid in Egypt.

I can't say how much of this is factual and how much is a wonderful story, but there is a vibration of truth in the book, and it GLOWS on the astral plane. Even if you don't buy any of that, it's a fabulous story to read and enjoy as a story.
