Oliver Black/Song of the Morning Ranch
Does anyone have any experience with the Song of the Morning Ranch founded by Oliver Black? Are the members there also SRF members? According to there old web site, the current director is Bob Raymer, who was a SRF minister at one time. Did he split from SRF or is he and the Song of the Morning group part of SRF. Has anyone received Kriya from Song of the Morning? Thank You.

Re: Oliver Black/Song of the Morning Ranch
I don't know whether the Song of the Morning Ranch members are also SRF members. I don't think that there is any preclusion to their being SRF'ers as Yogacharya Oliver Black was a SRF minister until he passed in his 90's.

Bob Raymer is a direct disciple of Paramahansa Yogananda. He met Master in Phoenix and was with him, off and on, for a couple of years until Master's passing. He also spent much time with Rajasi at Boreggo Springs, where Bob Raymer and his wife purchased a home right down the road from Rajasi's, and he says that Rajasi used to walk over to their house in the afternoon, sit with them on the couch and just stay in silence. He says that he and his wife would meditate with him like that for a period of time, then Rajasi would get up and walk back to his home.

I don't know about kriya initiations. I do know that Master said Yogacharya Black was the second among his men disciples in spiritual realization. I heard him speak at the 1970 Convocation at the Biltmore and he radiated peace and joy, laughing alot and spreading contagious joy.

I have a video that I purchased from Ananda that has Bob Raymer, Roy Eugene Davis, Master's nephew and wife, Peggy Dietz and other direct disciples reminisencing about their experiences with PY. It was filmed during the 100th year anniversary of Master's passing. I recommend it, and just for the record I'm not a member of Ananda. They have it on their website.

That is about all I know. However on the Ananda sangha website, under their centers is their center in Detroit link. On it I read a very inspiring story of Mr. Black from someone who was his student since the age of 18 years. It also includes the story of Mr. Black's passing that is very inspirational and his own story, in his own words, about yoga and PY that appeared in a newspaper in Detroit during the 1960's. I recommend that to everyone.

Bob Raymer
The members at Song of the Morning Ranch are not SRF members, but I have been told that some monks at SRF go to the retreats there.

I read it, and also felt greatly inspired. This was the kind of interaction with Master that inspired people to change their lifes into something that others could look up to and admire. No carbon copy- Oliver seemed like someone who was able to take the teachings and make his life into an adventure.

Oliver Black/Song of the Morning Ranch
I have visited the Ranch periodically since the early 70's. It was never Oliver's wish to have the Ranch under SRF's control, and he set up Golden Lotus, Inc. with a board of director's to manage things independently.

Golden Lotus Inc. oversees the Retreat Center activities as well as the new Clear Light Community development, although the Community has its own governing board too.

Historically, members there have tended to be SRF members, especially during Oliver's lifetime, when one typically studied the SRF lessons for at least a year and asked to receive Kriya initiation from him.

Kriya is still given at the Ranch by Bob Raymer, Spiritual Director - consulting their January-June calendar, initiations are scheduled for Feb 16, 2002 and June 8, 2002.

Over the last several years the Clear Light Community has been developed on the Ranch property as the fullment of Oliver's desire to participate in Yogananda's "World Brotherhood" colonies dream. One can lease lots and build homes on the property.

For more information call 989-983-4107. Email business@goldenlotus.org

The January/June 2002 Calendar of Events contains information on all programs etc., which you might find useful to have mailed to you.
