How affected are the teachings?
Reading all that worrying stuff about aggressive, biased editing, I wonder about the trilogy "Man's Eternal Quest" / "The Divine Romance" / "Journey to Self-Realization".
These writings are just wonderful and deeply inspiring. More so because they seem basically spontaneous, and directly transcripted from lectures and truly "informal talks". Direct quotations (e.g. "if you look at the windows of this temple here..") corroborate that impression further.
On the other hand, these seeming informal lectures are so incredibly convincing in their whole structure and argumentative set-up that it is hard to believe an informal speaker would be able to state matters in such a way. On the other hand, if I listen to Master's speeches (such as "The great light of God"), he is often carried away by his own inspiration and divine fervor, which drives his speech still further away from what a writer would state in order to make his point.
In other words: how edited are those lectures? I guess they must be tremendously alterated, especially if they are composed of various different speeches/lectures/talks while still giving the impression of a one-occasion talk.
Has Tara Mata done just another wild editing?

Re: How affected are the teachings?
Rei,

I often wonder the same thing myself. If you listen to Master's talk on the "Smile Millionaire" tape and then read it in the annotated talks in the 3 anthologies you'll see (as did I) that it was heavily edited by someone.

Even allowing for editing of opening prayers and announcements etc. there seems to have been quite a bit changed. I think you've gotten it right about Master's devotional 'wanderings', it seems that they've been edited quite a bit.

he fact that each talk in the books seems to be perfect in terms of grammar etc., which is probably a function of an editor, isn't really a problem for me as the editors (SRF) are looking at making these publications widely available and don't wish any grammatical problems to discredit them.
