SRF, guns, and non-violence
Yep. Here’s a hot topic: Guns and SRF and Non-violence

On the tape, Is Peace Possible in Today’s World, Bro. Anandamoy, states that “Guns are latent violence.” And a war has been going on since our first breath. So is peace possible? Are guns truly latent violence? What about bows and arrows? What about spears? Are these latent violence, too? The last two essentially perform the same actions as the former although the latter are quieter.

I have friends who raised their children (2 boys) to be non-violent. Or at least tried to. No TV. No movies. No mention or talk of guns or wars. No cursing. When the boys became old enough (somewhere between 2 and 4), they wanted to teach them the numbers and the alphabet. So they bought plastic numbers and letters. All went well until they started to play with the number ‘7’. “Bang Bang!” they both said to one another. End of non-violence training. Though this can be conditioned out of them, it seems to be a pre-natal instinct with these boys. (BTW, the parents are in SRF.)

Does non-violence work sometimes and not at other times? We know that Gandhi’s movement to free India from British rule did work. Why? The British had a conscience. Similar to King’s movement in America. Americans had a conscience. But what about in Nazi Germany? Would a Gandhi-like movement have worked there? I read somewhere (that I cannot remember) that it would not have worked because the Nazi conscience was dead. (The Nazi ideology not the German people and you would need an understanding of history and this ideology to better comprehend this.)

What are your thoughts from your perspective in or around SRF?

(Maybe I should preface some topics with “Thinking outside the box: Oh heck! Throw the box away”?

" Even if thou does not slay these wicked warriors all in war array, they surely certain have to fall, in my teeth of law with all. Arise, awake, arise, awake! O dash thy foe to war, the flesh a captive make, and sieze thy victors fame, the battle hunted game! I know right now the happenings all that mystic future forth doth call, and thus thy foes and warriors true, long, long ago I slew, 'ere they agent hand, that I would wield to land thy foes on death's dim shore could understand!

My agent, thou, O this is how I work my plan in universe through instruments diverse: 'Tis I who slew and yet will slay the senses train through thee, as through both past and future ones, my soldier sane...."

Chapt. 11 PY's Gita (from memory, might be small misquotes)

Kill 'em all, let God sort them out . . .

Thanks, Carbohydramoy. After posting and then reading your response I remembered that there are no absolutes in this world of relativity. :)
