The next President
What have people heard, or what do you know, about the selection of the next SRF president. We know it will be one of the bad ladies, but most are old and that won't last either. What can SRF expect over the next 20 years? What are the actual rules, if any, for selection of the president? Who gets to decide the rules? What oversite will there be?

Common rumors I hear:

1. It must be a women.
2. It must be a nun.
3. The person will be selected by the board of directors.

When Faye was selected they scrapped the rules and a subset of the board selected Faye and made it stick. How will this one play out? What heads will roll as a result?

KS,

I don't know who will be the next president, but it has just been announced recently that brother Vishwanandna has been given a position to lead SRF's day-to-day operations, meaning I think, he does all the leadership work and duties that are not crucial or too important. He would seem to be a good candidate. Why does it have to be a nun? Does she also have to be a former Mormon? What kind of unfair rules are these?

I inquired about this once and was told that I wasn't to concern myself with it... that "master had a plan"

Well, username, I guess you were put in your place...Any self respecting cult would answer the same. They would tell the "child" not to be concerned with matters beyond its understanding and leave the important matters to those ordained to make decisions. Children are supposed to accept and follow blindly. And make a generous donation to the Voluntary Leage Appeal.

Re: The next President
The end game for SRF will be when faye dies. The cat fight for power, and the disappointing result, will be obvious to the membership. There will be a shakey grab for power followed by the chopping off of heads to make sure it sticks. Literature will go out to all the membership telling wonderful stories about the new leader and raising them to realization status by implication.

A lot more monastics will leave or be forced in a purge to make room for people who will be loyal to the new mata. This is classic kali yuga stuff.

The membership is growing up and will begin to drop off and see SRF for what it really is. A cancer on Master's teachings.

Re: The next President
I'd always assumed that Mrinilini was being groomed for the top spot, partly based upon her career track of being appointed to the Vice Presidency years ago.

Other's have posted that Uma has the inside track. It seems most devotee's assume it will be a woman as KS has said.

But Vishwananda seems to be also on the upward path in the organization. Oh well, we at least know that whoever is chosen will a "person of divine realization," and Yoganandaji's channel on earth!

lower turn out due to fear and economy
ALL Here,

Was the lower turn out (than last year or so) at convocation 2002 due to fear of flying and economy?

Who cares?

Whoever it is will not be a truthful person and will not usher SRF into a new era of truthfulness.

Re: The next President
Who cares who is the next president? Good question. There is some chance that a new president will transform SRF into the smaller and less centralized organization I feel it was intended to be. There will be less focus on the president as the Guru replacement, NO focus on a powerful few, and the groups and centers will rise up to play the dominate role in the dissemination of Master’s message. A good humble man in charge could get that going. Downsized and with little or no monastic order, SRF might survive. A president could start things rolling in that direction.

However, what is more likely is someone even more disappointing will take charge and SRF will slowly degrade until it disappears. The groups develop on their own and Master’s mission continues. This is more likely.

Should someone disappointing take over, which is almost certain to happen since only disappointing people have seen their drive for power as a reason for staying, the abuse of people inside, including members and monastics, will get worse. This behavior, done using Master’s name, should be a concern for all of us.

KS:

(Thanks for your intelligent, thoughtful posts--all of them!)

The first option you offer would be the ideal, but where within the current SRF could such a one as that come from? Seems a virtual impossibility. (I don't think even Babaji could pull off infiltrating SRF with such bold, radically different leadership!)

What seems more likely is that SRF will first totally disintegrate, and out of the ashes something similar to what you envision will come into existence and will evolve. But I'm in my 50's already and wonder if it will happen in my lifetime. And when SRF goes down, I wonder how the SRF archives with all the original writings will be protected, or does such a thing not exist? I can imagine the Matas already having destroyed all vestiges of truth!

Re: The next President
Uma Mata is the next generation president. Personally I can't wait. With her in charge SRF will melt down into internal bickering and political intrigue. It will be the final influence of the Kali Yuga. The result will be the destruction of the “superior” concept of a monastic order and the emergence of a true Lay Disciple based SRF centered on small groups. For a while there will still be grabs for power by people who want to pretend to the thrown but the age of the Guru replacement is surely dead.
