Re: The Final Phase: Denial to Embarrassment
Dear Compact Ford Pickup Sage from Slug Bug Sage,

“Some things are more flawed than others!” YES.

When did SRF turn to the dark side? I think it was already in the making when PY was still alive. They were just waiting in the wings so they could make all these wonderful changes. As someone had said, some direct disciples were upset by these changes, complained, and then were blackballed, and left.

Now take Encinitas. I was told that they put a barbed wire fence around the Encinitas Ashrama right after he passed over in order to keep people off the property. Now they have the Great Wall of Encinitas in its place. They also have an armed guard to keep you off the lawn, and from doing anything else that any normal person might do. If you break a rule, you will be met with tear gas and guns. I think we should take over the ashrama and turn it into a People’s Ashrama. We can then allow homeless people to sleep on the lawn, we can have picnics, meditate and so on. Even dogs, rabbits, squirrels and other animals are welcomed. We can also set up a free food kitchen. Then we can take over the pool, fill it with soil and plant a garden.

I didn't know those westec security bums were allowed to wear guns. I believe they make do with a weaponstick and a hot wire to the police.

Very true, they just carry big sticks and walk softly behind you.

Re: The Final Phase: Denial to Embarrassment
Sayitisn'tso, I never even joined SRF, but I have given away many many copies of AoY and it makes me wince that I not only cannot endorse SRF to friends that love AoY, but I have to warn them the organization that took on the work of publishing his teachings is not much like him, but pretty closed and just really opposite to PY in so many ways. Not the warm, loving, witty teacher, honoring all faiths, not even willing to prosecute thieves, taking people in, cooking for friends, singing and playing harmonium, loving life... but rigid and full of narrow rules and exclusivity clauses, having lawsuits and mile long lists of don'ts... just opposite.

I appreciate SRF for faithfully sending out the lessons to so many over the years, and keeping AoY in print, but it does hurt that so little of PY's charm, warmth, and loving grace is present in the organization. And I mind very much indeed his actual words being altered.

I wonder how many million would be practicing kriya if SRF reflected PY better?

But they did take on the work and deserve respect for that.

SRF didn't "take on the work" of getting the teachings out. That is sure an unjustified viewpoint. They are milking Master's good name to make a living for themselves. Their priority, even by their own admission, has never been to get the teachings out. They phrase their mission as PROTECTING his teachings which means protecting their jobs.

It really is no more complicated than that.

It took them 50 years to get out the Gita and the new Christian book. 50 years! The lessons have not even been reformated in that time. Where are the Italian lessons? on and on and on.

When money gets low and attendance at their meetings lags they publish something else. A book, some lectures (ha ha) of one of the pretenders to the throne, a video of something... all for MONEY. Don't be fooled.

Windchimes,

You wrote and I agree:"but I have to warn them the organization that took on the work of publishing his teachings is not much like him, but pretty closed and just really opposite to PY in so many ways. Not the warm, loving, witty teacher, honoring all faiths, not even willing to prosecute thieves, taking people in, cooking for friends, singing and playing harmonium, loving life... but rigid and full of narrow rules and exclusivity clauses, having lawsuits and mile long lists of don'ts... just opposite." Yet, Yogananda was involved in lawsuits, and he lost one of them, but I don't believe that he ever began a lawsuit, which is good in itself.

KS wrote: "When money gets low and attendance at their meetings lags they publish something else." How true. Not only that but now they have asked for money so that they could publish "The Second Coming", and after they have your body they want you to buy the book. Very interesting, but greedly.

Re: The Final Phase: Denial to Embarrassment
KS and dig,

Since I am not even an SRF member, I am sure you know much more than I do about the problems within. My expression of appreciation to the organization that sent me the lessons faithfully for years at a ridiculously modest cost, however, stands. Whatever else may be true, that is also true. There could not have been much of a profit margin in that.

Also, I never joined because the rigidity discussed on this board was apparent even at my great distance from MC. So I believe you. I also know my lessons arrived regularly, were wonderful even if flawed, and cost next to nothing.

I am so sorry that those who felt called to join and help and become deeply involved, and are now here, were made to feel so horribly unappreciated, used and abused in unethical ways, and discarded. That there should be such things as 'official lies' and 'black lists' is so incredibly sad!

I suppose it is easy from my distance from the disappointments to see things not as black and white. Still, that is the only point of view truly mine, so I have to go with it.

My hope, because I think the people on this board are great, is that all hurt by the problems recover and continue to progress. This is a fine group of people and I am really benefitting from reading your posts.

Windchimes,

I also think Daya has wonderful qualities. Not anyone person is one sided, and often we see a side of someone that others don't see. Some who have been in her presence have been uplifted for days. Yet I also believe what Dig and KS experienced as I believe those are part of her qualities also. We like some people, we don't like others. I am sure we have all experienced how some people think that even we are wonderful while others don't--some people just may not be able to stand us.
