Anyone see similarities in the power SRF has bestowed on their president and the powers associated with the One Ring?

:) Association with it for too long corrupts, even the best of people.

:) Truly wise people see this and resist even holding the ring. They don’t embrace it and feel they can, due to their amazing power for good, resist the dark influence. They know they can’t resist.

:) Only the most humble among them is able to accept the challenge of dealing with it, and then only for a limited time. Even they are corrupted and harmed.
