Thanks
Well, well, well...I'm not the only one who's made these observations. I don't quite agree w/ everything here, but find this a useful place and think it'll help me. So, wanted to say thanks and let you know that I hear you. I feel the pain. Will continue to add here, but what's with the female-phobia? I understand the superior, exclusive attitude that prevails, but it comes from the male power brokers too, AND, until recently the nuns weren't featured at Convo. Only now do they chant and Priya has talked. Also, are the "bad" ladies (isn't that negative? Someone pointed out all the negativity in the Lessons) such great actresses that they can move thousands in public speaches with a tangible spiritual vibration, yet dishonor people one on one so ruthlessly? I hear you, I really do and will give evidence to support, but I also need clarity. All in all, glad you're here.

Welcome
There are a lot of opinions here and I don’t agree with all of them either! Your comment about female-phobia is fair too. All the mention of the bad-ladies comes from many of us seeing the main problem stemming from the nun’s side. There are no men with any real authority in SRF, not Anandamoy, not Bhaktananda, not Vishwananda. It is the nuns who are in control and set the culture.

They do push the men out to do the public speaking. That is true. The nuns do their best to maintain control and stay isolated. There are not many problems generated from the public face of SRF, from the convocation speeches and such. From there SRF looks fine and reasonably healthy. Most of the problems documented here are generated by the nuns behind closed doors where few can see them.

We are trying to open the doors.

Tell me more
Is it the contention of you insiders that the nun leadership are Hollywood's best actresses, or are they split-personalities, are all the speeches fake? I feel elevated when I read/listen/see these "abusers" and administrative blunderers. I do see the admin foul-ups, believe me running a local group was no picnic, and SRF could use much public relations clean-up. And I don't expect all-perfect God-like saints in these persons--even Master got angry for e.g., but there seems to be such a rift between the assertions here and the evidence of a life dedicated to sadhana. And I also understand that many of you have been deeply hurt and disappointed. Don't know when this board began, but perhaps after you all go trhough your cleanse-thru-vent period, there can be greater balance here and a search for true solutions.

Speeches – fakes?
We all were inspired by the speeches and books. That is how we all started or we would not even be involved with the Walrus. All the monastics/members that have left in the last 50 years were inspired and felt a connection with Master at some point.

As to the question of if they are fakes, I would have to say it is not that simple. The monks you hear speak, most of them, are sincere and trying their best. Human, for sure, but doing their best. Most of the weird stuff going on is not their fault although some are more involved that others.

It is not difficult to give a good speech. Many public people, including actors and politicians, can weave a good story and pull tears or make you laugh. No big trick there. SRF speakers also have a great subject with Master’s words, and a very eager audience. I agree they can be good speakers. I would suggest, however, that most of the devotion you feel is already inside you. Considering some 95% of SRF people drop out I suggest that something is missing.

The question of the inspired books is an interesting one. Daya Mata has published several books and yet never speaks, even in front of the monastics. Even they don’t see her. Where they get all these “talks”, and who then writes them down, is a mystery to me. I do suspect that many people, given Master’s words to pull from, could write a very inspired article. The sincerely searching people can probably do better.
