What are they constructing at Lake Shrine? The Lake apparently is closed.

I understand that it is a new parking lot, for the "lower" area. It sure has been going on for quite awhile now, it must be something to behold when it is finally done.

I called a couple of weeks ago wanting to visit and was told by a semi-breathless woman who I had to strain to hear that it wouldn't be done until May (at least that's what she sounded like to me, perhaps I didn't hear her correctly).

The parking was getting to be a problem especially on the weekends, so hopefully it will solve the problem without in any way altering the original Lake Shrine in any way.

Lake Shrine is still not open to the public due to construction, including a massive new gate at the entrance. Driving by, the gate is huge, and looks way out of proportion to the surroundings! It includes large concrete pillars which I think now are covered in stone, topped by large redwood beams over the driveway.
Who designed the gate is of interest. According to the Lake Shrine News (Newsletter for our Congregation and Volunteers), May-June issue, the design was a joint effort between a long time member and volunteer named Willian King and a San Francisco based architect named Francisco Centurion, who just happens to be Brother Keshavananda's father! Very interesting. (In case you are not aware of current leadership, Brother Keshavananda is Minister-in-charge at the Lake.)
I wonder how many firms submitted ideas for a new entrance, and who chose Mr. Centurion.
