Walking away not the thing to do
I agree walking away is not always the best thing to do. But people are coming to SRF and getting hurt and leaving the path. We can’t just write that off as “SRF is not perfect” or “they are just people”. SRF management is perpetuating the myth that they are perfect and the one true channel of Yogananda’s. That should be stopped. If we can reach a few people early in their search, before they are discouraged by exposure to mother center, and help them to focus on Yogananda and not on SRF management, then we have helped and this discussion is worth it.

leaving the path
Are people really leaving the path due to poor treatment by SRF? I know first hand that people are treated poorly, but I haven't heard of anyone so discouraged that they leave the path. Is this really true?

Leaving The Path.
To yg, concerning devotees leaving the path due to the terrible treatment and attitude of SRF. Let me assure you that I personally know of literally dozens having left SRF. Some have left the path entirely! A good number of these have been monastics. I have witnessed, and been the recipient of, some of the most despicable acts perpetrated by Mother Center and those "chosen few" who rule the roost.

It is beyond imagination to think that Yogananda would espouse such actions. We have all heard about the leadership of SRF being selected long ago by Babaji and such persons will have been "realized". Please open your eyes and see that there is no "realization" at the leadership. As a matter of fact, Daya Mata placed herself there. She claimed to have been given the mantle at the passing of Yogananda. According to what really happened, Rajarsi was the ensuing President. At his passing, it wasn't Daya who was asked to take the leadership. It was Durga Mata, who refused the office.
It was only after the "takeover" by the Brown's and the Wright's that she claimed the title.

What you see today is the effect of all that political gimmickry. Certainly no "realized" leadership has shown itself over the last nearly half-century. It has gone from bad to worse and, I'm afraid, "you ain't seen nothin' yet!"

yg--- You must not be from the Los Angeles area. Talk to anyone working at the mother center and they will all tell you stories of people so discouraged that they no longer meditate, attend church, or serve, or some who have left the path completely. This is real damage and can't be written off as "a test".
