Death of Ex-Monastic
Rick Mount, known in the ashram as David, died of bone cancer on August 24. Dave will be missed.

After leaving the ashram several years ago, Dave moved to Azusa and worked as an building inspector for the City of Los Angeles.

His memorial service will be at the Lake Shrine on Sept. 3.

He is survived by his wife and mother.

He was an example of the wonderful people sometimes drawn to Yogananda. I hope we can all pray for his family.

Re: Death of Ex-Monastic
How long ago did he leave? Was the cancer a result of lack of medical care during his stay at SRF?

Re: Death of Ex-Monastic
Don't get too many rumors started! He left more than 10 years ago. Monastic health care is adequate. They are self insured but have plenty of money. Some of the monastics pay for their own health care, a decision they make themselves. His illness was not the result of SRF. He was a happy well adjusted guy as I remember.

Employees are another story. There was NO health care until a few years ago. Near minimum wages and no health care. Then a poor guy had a heart problem on the job and the fear of lawsuits opened up their hearts. It is the minimum their lawyers recommended I am sure.
