Immersion
It has been my habit of late to equate going inward in meditation to an experience of turning to the rear and touching the wellspring of life with my hand. I do this as often as I can remember to, maybe up to six times a day for brief moments. The result is like a fortification of consciousness to be assured that no matter how lost I may feel in the world, at least for a moment I have touched the heart of things.

Today when I turned, I had the experience of immersion, wherein the waters of life surrounded me. My immediate feeling was, "Yes, this is the obvious logical way to view it, because after all God is everywhere." So this time instead of feeling like an orphan who glimpses his parent's photograph and is comforted enough to get on with life, instead I feel as if my "parents" have returned to the hostile world beside me. Is this a baptism experience that is talked about? Our minds can easily entertain the idea that God is everywhere, so the experience of immersion certainly shouldn't be alien to us or unexpected. But I was pleasantly surprised with this novel, to me, experience, and I want to share it here.

I turned to the wellspring of life and dipped my hand to gain strength and reassurance. Today the wellspring met me halfway and immersed my entire sphere of awareness. As a dry sponge is transformed when immersed, now I have been reminded that the world is filled with God.
