Cult
Does anyone know anything about this group:

AFF
Michael Langone
located in Naples Florida

Are they a real cult recovery group? Or has scientology or other group taken this over?

They are hosting a workshop for former cult group members on June 12, 2003 in Orange, California. Does anyone know of anyone who has gone to one of their workshops?

Re: Cult
My understanding, from a friend who has used their resources, is that they are legit. Seems that used to be called the cult awareness network, but in some legal wrangle with Scientology, they were forced to regroup. They probably have a website that you can do a search for.

Conference Facilities

California

Chapman University is located in the historically preserved Old Towne section of the city of Orange California, with coffee shops, theaters, libraries and restaurants within walking distance of the campus. Orange County is home to several major attractions, including Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, Edison Field, Arrowhead Pond, and some of the most beautiful beaches in the country, including Laguna Beach, Newport Beach, and Huntington Beach. Accommodations will be in Henley Hall. Each room includes two twin beds, a desk and a dresser, and a private bathroom, but does not include a TV, radio, or telephone. Telephones and TV's are available in lounges on each floor. Room and meal reservations can be made on the Conference Registration Form. If you prefer hotel accommodations, contact AFF; we will send you a list of nearby hotels. Conference meetings and meals will be in the Argyros Forum Conference and Meeting Center, located a short walk from Henley Hall. Chapman University has asked AFF to pre-assign rooms in the residence hall. If you want a roommate and have a preference please indicate that on the Registration Form. In order to keep meal costs so low, Chapman also requires that meals be sold in “packages,” i.e., breakfast, lunch, and dinner, not individually. For this reason, meals are included with the registration fee.

Air travel should be arranged to Orange County's John Wayne Airport, which is 15 minutes from campus, or Los Angeles International Airport, which is 45 minutes from campus. Amtrak train service is available to Anaheim and Santa Ana, with taxi service available to Chapman. For drivers, Chapman is located at the corner of University Drive and Glassell Street, which is reachable from the Santa Ana Freeway (I-5) or the Orange Freeway (Hwy. 57). Free parking is available in a garage under Henley Hall. Your registration confirmation packet will include detailed driving directions.

Connecticut

The Radisson Hotel Springfield - Enfield is located 7 miles from Springfield, MA and 20 miles from Hartford, CT. Nearby attractions include Six Flags New England Amusement and Water Park, National Basketball Hall of Fame, Volleyball Hall of Fame, Hartford and Springfield Civic Centers, Forest Park Zoo, museums and shopping malls. October foliage in Connecticut can be spectacular. The over-sized guest rooms include a desk, coffeemaker, hairdryer, iron & ironing board, 2 line telephones, color cable TV with free HBO, ESPN, CNN, pay-per-view movies and video games. Facilities include Bright Meadow Grille & Lounge, indoor & outdoor swimming pools, sauna, two lighted tennis courts, volleyball & basketball courts, and a fully equipped exercise room. For reservations call (860) 741-2211 [fax: (860) 741-2210] and be sure to ask for the special AFF rate of $ 69/night plus tax. (The hotel cannot guarantee that you will receive the AFF rate, if you make your reservations through the Radisson national reservations center or Web site. The special rate is only guaranteed to September 15, 2003. Rates may be higher after that date.

Air Travel should be arranged to Bradley International Airport, which is 13 miles from the hotel. Complementary shuttle service is available to and from the hotel. (Advance reservations with the hotel are required – 860-741-2211.) For drivers, the hotel is located just off I-91 at exit 49 and is 7 miles from I-90 (Mass. Pike) in Springfield and 20 miles from I-84 in Hartford. Free parking is available at the hotel.
