I don't think Yogananda was any more naive than the Dalai Lama going to Peking to negotiate with Mao after the Chinese had invaded Tibet. That Yogananda deliberately made himself out to be more than he was, and that this makes him fraudulent, is a judgment I still find hard to make. Clearly we need to adjust our estimation of him. Maybe our graduation from the religious kindergarten he set up is our ability to accord him both human and divine status. I honestly don't think he would have any problem with that.
