Advice on service
What is everyone’s take on service? By helping with flowers at the temple, sweetly answering the prayer lines at Mother Center, or working in the garden, am I helping to perpetuate the problem? Mother Center (Management) draws people in and chews them up and hurts them, discouraging them on the path. Am I helping this process? Since I am now conscious of the problem, what is my obligation as a disciple?

If I decide I am hurting Master’s work with my time there, helping to deceive people more than helping to further the teachings, what should I do? Am I still helping people?

Other Ways to Serve
This is a good question and a crucial issue. There are many ways to serve, above and beyond SRF. Our relationship with God and guru is not limited to our relationship with, or even our membership in, SRF. By continuing to go along with the dysfunctional environment of the organization, especially Mother Center, are we not supporting the problem? Are we not allowing it to continue? By our very presence their are we not giving tacit approval of what they are doing? What is necessary is an appropriate response to SRF's diabolical challenge to spiritual integrity. Sometimes loyalty means walking away, particularly when there is nothing else you, or anyone, can do.

SRF has lost its way. They are not practicing, much less living, their great guru's teachings. They have become cruel, heartless, elitist, and utterly ruthless. All classic signs of a cult. The cult of Daya Mata. Clearly, there is a great difference between SRF and Paramhansa Yogananda.

Those who have sold their souls for power and position, who have a vested interest in maintaining the spiritually dysfunctional status quo, will remain there. The rest of us have a very clear choice. What do WE, not they, want to make of our lives? Become "yes men"? Buy in? as Mrinalini Mata has said, and become one of the "chosen ones"? Or look deep within ourselves and make our own decision to live Master's teachings and not support the extreme misbehavior and destruction of people that is being perpetuated through the SRF organization.

If we could help, we would, and many people have given their lives, quite literally, in the attempt. But SRF will not have it. They have assumed a pseudo-spiritual "mantel," and in their arrogance they will not only listen to no one, but actively seek to destroy anyone who does not go along with them. We have to reach the point where we see SRF for what it IS, not what we think it should or could be. The choice then becomes very clear.

Make no rash decisions, but take the time to get clear. If you need distance to get that clarity, than create that distance. Your destiny is in your own hands, with God and guru with you every step of the way. They will never abandon you. This is what SRF has lost, no matter what they say in their posturing and press releases: the ability to live by the principles of compassion, true understanding, and unconditional love.

You aren’t perpetuating the problem. You are a good example. As Bro. Bhaktananda said in ‘Glimpses of a Life Divine’, “You be the example”. Your obligation as a disciple is to work on your own spiritual development and be happy wherever you are. We should do what we can to help, but we can’t change others’ we can only change ourselves. I think one of the best things we can do as disciples is to pray for the organization. If we all do Bro. Bhaktananda’s peace and harmony prayer things will change.

W’s comments say, “By continuing to go along with the dysfunctional environment of the organization, especially Mother Center, are we not supporting the problem? Are we not allowing it to continue…etc, etc….”. I don’t see Bro. Bhaktananda or Mukti Mata leaving the ashram. You don’t have to walk away to be loyal. W also says, “there is nothing else you, or anyone, can do.” – but there is! We all have to change ourselves. That is why we are here on earth, to perfect ourselves (so we don’t have to come back! lol). What if this is all a test to see how strong each of us is on the path? People [allow themselves to] get hurt, myself included, when we don’t separate the organization from Master. The organization is not perfect and probably never will be. When we think the organization should be perfect or close to perfect we are setting ourselves up for disappointment.

Keep serving Master if it’s what you want to do. You are helping people. Keep up the good work. The organization needs people like you.

this helps
all this has been very deep for me and i have had to think a lot and pray a lot and try to be in tune with Master. it looks to me like some people are trying to create another catholic church and that is the last thing Master wanted. also think about this, it has been a real turning point for me, that even while Master was here there were people he put in charge who did wrong things, so why should we think that when he is not here physically that it's impossible for people he put in charge to do wrong things? and lots of the people are not even ones he putin charge. i am sure SRF is Master's organization. he said so. but that doesn't mean every person in it is always right. maybe the monastics have som ekind of obedience thing but then us lay people have to be the watchers. like someone else said, keeping silence can be just as bad as doing something wrong. just ask how will i feel when i see Master? that's what i do now.

A solution!
Just write a letter to Mother Center about what you are thinking and feeling. They may quite possibly relieve you of your service duties! It worked for me, anyways. (The story is on the mistreatment thread.)

Seriously, I never thought about what you brought up before. How sad that things have come to this.

Exact kriya routine
I just wanted to know , if people can suggest how the paramhansa used to advice people for a kriya routine.

I understand it is Energization exercises first, then Kriya, then reading something from his books and then prayers ?

I will be grateful if anyone can help me on this

Re: Exact kriya routine
Bhaktananda and logic says this:

EE Prayer
EE
Meditation opening prayer/invocation of Gurus
20-20-20 Breathing
Tense & relax, then & huh-huh--throw the breath out
Start Hong-Sau w/next natural inhalation
Continue till breath stills
AUM Technique
Kriya
Jyoti mudra
Complete STILLNESS
Sitting long in meditation & prayer
Closing Prayer

There's mahamudra too--either done after EE and before sitting OR after AUM and before Kriya proper.

Obviously not a mechanical progression. Devotion throughout.
